Central Continues to Lead in the Pet and Garden Industries

Pet Segment

Packaged Facts estimates that the annual retail sales of pet food, treats and chews, supplies, veterinary and non-medical services, and live animals will be approximately $151 billion in 2024. We operate primarily in the pet supplies, live fish, and small animal categories, and we estimate these markets generate approximately $39 billion in annual retail sales.

There are over 2,500 manufacturers, ranging from mostly single-category or limited-range players to approximately two dozen companies with a solid multi-category presence. The majority of these smaller companies do not have a captive sales and logistics network and rely on us or other independent distributors to supply their products to regional pet specialty chains and independent retailers.

Packaged Facts expects eCommerce to continue gaining share in the pet retail business, rising from 25% in 2019 to a projected 39% share of pet products by 2024 and a 42% share by 2028.
